The last few years have taught us many things, not least the power of community. Togetherness and kindness give us a sense of belonging, a social connection that can make us feel uplifted and positive.

My background is in events - I have always loved bringing people together - and I recognise the importance of creating a collaborative, supportive environment, especially for mothers. Since having my son Sergio last year, it has made me realise how few informal, drop-in spaces there are in North Norfolk for new and expectant mums or for those mums doing it all over again like me.

Which is why, from April, we’re launching Marshes & Flint meet-ups and events in our store at Creake Abbey. It’ll be a chance to connect with other like-minded women in a safe and inviting space, whether you want to hang out with friends or are looking to meet new ones. Or perhaps you simply need to get out of the house by yourself and be looked after for an hour or so?

The meet-ups will take place in an area of the shop that’s been purpose-designed as a bright, airy, creative space; we have collaborated with The Interiors Yard and there’s a a sofa, small play area with toys for babies and toddlers and, of course, there’ll be plenty of coffee and cake. I want it to feel like you’re coming round to my Marshes & Flint home for a cuppa and a chat, while your little one sleeps, plays, feeds… Whatever goes, it’s all very relaxed.

Please do pop by - we promise you the warmest of welcomes.

PS. We also have plans to use the new in-store area for seasonal workshops, and as a networking hub for small businesses. So, literally, watch this space.
